Ed Wong is grateful for his life and eyes that can see the beauty God has created.

Ed has been photographing from the age of 12 years old. His father had given him a 35mm rangefinder camera to play with. Ed over the next few years learned to use the camera to take pictures of scenes and people around his neighborhood in Stockton. By the age of 14, Ed was enrolled in a photography class in high school. It became clear under the training Dave and Ruth Radmore who were alumni of Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara that Ed had a natural gift and talent for photography beyond their other students.

Ed spent his next few years in high school with Ruth working on the yearbook and as newspaper staff developing his skills as a photojournalist. Ed also spent time with Dave in the photo studio, learning portrait photography. He is grateful for Dave for teaching the foundations of photography.

After high school, at San Joaquin Delta College where he attended photography classes taught by Edward Schwyn, who knew Ansel Adams and went photographing with Ansel. Edward taught his students the Ansel Adams Zone System which Ed was fortunate enough to learn. Edward would take his classes to Yosemite National Park and photograph with the large format camera just as Ansel did. Ed really enjoyed the sessions with Edward and learned a lot.

Ed went onto San Jose State University to pursue a degree in photojournalism. After 2 years into the program, Ed was burned out and lost his passion for photographing.

In 1998, after about a decade break from photography, Ed purchased a digital camera to learn the new technology. After shooting for a year with the camera to learn the technology, Ed felt God calling him to do something with his gift of photography that God had given him.

Ed soon discovered a new style of photography he felt God was showing him. That style is outdoor and landscape photography. Ed found himself growing closer to God and increasing his passion for photography as he went out to capture the majestic and powerful scenes of God’s creation. Ed found his real area of gifting and passion in outdoor and landscape photography. Ed is blessed to share his photography with you.
